Christian Bota is a contemporary figurative sculptor born in Chernivtsi. His artistic training began at the “Ciprian Porumbescu” Art High School in Suceava, where he specialized in Restoration and Conservation, developing a strong foundation in traditional techniques, materials, and working processes. He continued his studies at the “George Enescu” University of Arts and Design in Iași, Sculpture Department, completing both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Visual Arts.

His sculptural practice focuses on the human figure, approached through a contemporary figurative language with an emphasis on expression, materiality, and formal tension. He works with a range of materials — metal, plaster, cement, wood, stone, and bronze — adapting each to the context of the work, from studio sculpture to public space projects. The working process emphasizes structure, volume, and the relationship between form and pressure.

He has realized public artworks and sculptures installed in Romania and the United States of America, including monumental busts dedicated to cultural and historical figures, created for communities and public spaces. His activity also includes participation in group exhibitions and artistic projects within both institutional and independent contexts.

An important aspect of his practice is collaboration with specialized foundries and workshops for casting and finishing, particularly for bronze sculptures, using both traditional and contemporary techniques. This technical experience directly informs the conception of his works, from the initial project stage to final execution.

Currently, the artist lives and works between Europe and the United States, engaging in exhibitions, sculptural projects, and the continued development of a practice focused on contemporary figurative sculpture, monumental works, and public space interventions.
